Looking for a Community Choir? Singers Wanted!

As we start the new decade, the Sierra High Notes is preparing for another Spring Season. This is nothing new for us. We are always looking for new singers to join our group and now is a perfect time to join. “Why,” you ask? Simply, we haven’t started rehearsing yet so no one is behind! If you would like to join us this season the path is very simple: Click the link below and fill out the electronic postcard and send. Nothing could be easier. We will be having our first meeting of our spring season on Wednesday February 5th at 6pm at the Faith Lutheran Church 2075 W. 7th Street in Reno. It will be a potluck get together to get to know new folks, hand out music, and maybe sing a little bit to get back into it. Then on Wednesday the 12th we will be fully into it. We will then meet every Wednesday usually around 7pm although special numbers may meet earlier. Rehearsals often end before 9pm unless we need to work on something special.

So what does it cost? Since we are a nonprofit charitable association, we do have $75.00 dues payable each season, We have a Spring and a Winter season each year. Paying these dues gives you voting rights in the Nonprofit and a say in how things are run when we have our annual meetings. It also helps fund our operation. We do fundraising and apply for grants as well. Other costs to you may include buying a music folder and perhaps acquiring your costumes for each concert. We try to keep it simple because we want the audience to enjoy our singing rather then be fashion critics!

Finally, as a community choir, you don’t need to be the best singer. We sing because we enjoy it and we want to share that enjoyment with others. So if you want to sing with us, fill our the card below and let us know!

Fundraising Efforts for December

It’s Fundraising time again. Well to be honest, it is always fundraising time. That’s our bread and butter, our life’s blood.  After all, without money, things just don’t go very well!

This time we have not one but two things in the works.  First is our regular raffle at our Christmas Concert on December 7th and 8th.  We will again have items for you to put tickets on and perhaps win.  Our goal is to get 20 items for each night.  If you would like to please donate and item to the raffle, contact Kevin as soon as possible.

The other fundraising effort is in partnership with Mimi’s Café on the corner of Kietzke and McCarren. At the concert and through other means, special flyers from Mimi’s will be available. Simply take the flyer to Mimi’s during the month of December and have a meal…breakfast, lunch or dinner-it doesn’t matter.   When you pay the bill, give them the flyer also. Whatever your bill is (minus alcoholic beverages), Mimi’s with make a donation to the Sierra High Notes equal to 20% of the bill.  If your bill is $50, the Sierra High Notes will get a donation of $10. Now if 100 people all do that, we can begin to raise enough money to make certain we go on another season. If 200 people do it…well, you get the picture.

Another Garage Sale Fundraiser

All Proceeds go to the Sierra High Notes!

Well it seems there was enough stuff left over plus a few others wanting to donate that a few of our members decided we needed a sequel to our First Annual Garage Sale Fundraiser. This Saturday August 24, on the corner of Seventh and Ibis streets in Reno, there will be another Garage Sale to benefit the Sierra High Notes
